Description of Services provided by Flowers The Clown in New York City
New York:
Hi! I'm Melissa Wallace (Flowers the Clown). I've been clowning for 18 years. I am a member of the New York Clown Alley, World Clown Association and Clowns of America. I'm a professional artist-designer trained at Parsons School of Design. I became interested in clowning through puppetry and costume design. My forte is face painting, but I have an extensive collection of magic tricks, including stage magic for rabbit and dove. I also do ballon sculptures, temporary tattoos and musical games. Contact me to discuss the type of party you desire and I will do my best to customize my skills to fit your needs and budget.
I make costumes and can change my look often but generally like to appear as a "Goose" clown, with simple make-up & a festive hat. My costumes are child sensitive so as not to frighten young children. I have feminine to unisexual costumes, wigs. Whatever you prefer!
"Flowers" has many contacts in the children's entertainment industry. If I can't provide the service, I'll try to lead you to reputuable people who can. I am not an agent & do not accept commissions for help to professional colleagues who are great at what they do.
What I enjoy about clowning is not only the joy & fun I bring the children, but the incredible burst of good energy, enthusiasm, and sweetness they pour into my spirit as well. I am the type of clown that whole families keep within the family and have seen so many kids literally grow up.
I am available for birthday parties, daycare/school events, communions, graduations, corporate events, festivals, promos, showers, weddings. I also do some caricature art.
I travel within the New York City Area only. I generally plan a one hour show like this, as most parents are more anxious to get my magic and they are on a budget. I do at least a dozen magic tricks in a general one hour clown show, plus elaborate balloon sculptures, which I usually start my act with, as it allows for late parents and kids. I try to wait till all the children have arrived before I start the magic show and like to be able to use most of every child as a participant, and of course focus most of the attention on the birthday child, after I do the face Painting (I use the best quality face paints) and temporary tattoos. I suggest not more than 20 children in an hour, for this format. If there more children, then more time may be necessary. I have a lot more magic, animal stage tricks, but this is for a separate type of show and travel expenses must be considered as I do not drive.
